Skill Development Programmes

ASAP Training

The Dept. was selected to run the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) by the Government of Kerala. The Programme is part of the Skill development initiative by the Departments of General Education and Higher education. Three members of the Dept. and a Computer Science faculty comprised the ASAP Team in the first two years. After going through ‘Train the Trainer’ programme at the Capital, the Dept.  has been running the 21 day Residential Training programme for the selected Skill development Executives (SDEs) at the college. The ASAP Team of the Dept. has now grown to 5 English hands supported by 2 Computer Science hands.

ASAP 2015

The 21 Day Residential SDE Training cum Selection programme under the aegis of Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) of Government of Kerala was organised at KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, from 6 To 26 May 2015. The Programme was attended by 24 girl students from different parts of the state. The Programme was inaugurated at 9.30 am by Mr. Aboobacker, Principal, MES College, Valancherry. Five members of the English Department where involved in the English Communication Skills training while 2 members of the Computer Science Department were part of the IT training. A Master Class on ‘Power Speak’ was arranged by Dr. K. K. Kumhammad, from Dept of Studies in English, Kannur University. The bunch of trainees who belonged to places as far as Kayamkulam and Kannur proved to be a very energetic and enthusiastic lot who zealously tried to make gains of the training regime. An outing was arranged to Nilambur and the group visited the Teak Museum, Connolly Plot and tourist spots around on the final Sunday. The British Council run Aptis test was taken by the candidates on line on 25 May and the programme wound up on 26 May. The chief Guests of the Valedictory Programme were Col. Dinesh Ramachandra Mudri, Commanding Officer, 9 Kerala Girls Battalion, NCC, Calicut and Assistant District Industries Officer, Mr. A. Abdul Latheef. Dr. C. Saidalavi, the Principal, presided over the function. The SDE trainees spoke at length on the valuable exposure they have gained and the attitudinal switch the programme has brought about in them. They all asserted how the career skills which are built in into the 21 Day Training regime can further their job prospects.

Mock Interview for Asap (2015) Aptis qualified candidates

The Dept is organizing a Mock Interview for the asap trainees who cleared the Aptis Test and is waiting for the Interview call. The Mock Interview will be followed by a review of the candidates’ performance. The experience will prepare the candidates to partially remove the fear of the process and better prepare for the Interview.
